John George, a 37-year-old father of two from Belfast, has been missing in Spain since December 14, 2024. His family believes he was lured to Spain and murdered, though Spanish police have not classified the case as a murder.
John was last in contact with his family on December 14, after travelling from Alicante to Benidorm. He missed his flight home on December 18, prompting concern. His sister, Courtney George, suspects a “friend” may be involved in his disappearance, stating, “He is not cooperating with the investigation, we do not know where he is, and he says he knows nothing.”
A Northern Ireland search and rescue team, K9 Search and Rescue NI, has been assisting in Spain since January 1, 2025. The team, comprising seven members and a search dog, has been combing through areas in Alicante, Benidorm, and Torrevieja. However, due to the vast search area and limited information, the operation has been challenging, leading to plans for a second visit to Spain.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is liaising with Spanish authorities and has offered assistance with local enquiries. They have also opened a public portal for information related to John’s disappearance.
John’s family continues to appeal for information, with his sister expressing the family’s anguish: “No one deserves what we are going through.”
In Belfast, John’s wider family and friends circle have staged a series of protests outside businesses believed to be connected to the suspects in the case.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the PSNI or Guarda Civil.
