Belfast City Airport Gets Festive!

Children from Belfast City Airport’s adopted schools have helped welcome in the start of the holiday season at the airport’s annual Christmas tree light switch on.

Maci Morrow from Victoria Park PS, Dorian Jastrzebski from Mitchell House PS, Rachel Dalton-Woods from St. Joesph’s PS, Annie Merrit from Seaview PS, Mark Rainey from St. Kevin’s and Alex Murray from St. Malachy’s PS joined Santa and Mrs Claus to kick off Belfast City Airport’s busy Christmas period, which will see up to 10,000 passengers a day travel to and from the UK, Europe, and beyond.

The event was packed with festive entertainment, including the first live performance from Belfast City Airport’s staff choir, The Belfast City Belters.

Aileen O’Kane, Head of People and Purpose at Belfast City Airport, said:

“We were thrilled to bring the magic of Christmas to Belfast City Airport with our annual Christmas tree light switch on, an event made even more exciting with involvement from our adopted schools.

“From the performances to the tree lighting and VIP appearances, it was truly heartwarming to see so many people enjoying the start of the holidays at Belfast City Airport.

“As an airport in the heart of the city and at the heart of the community, our Christmas tree light switch on is a real highlight in our calendar and we take great pride in making the season extra special for our team and those travelling through Belfast City Airport.

“We have a number of festive events and activities planned throughout December, including school choir performances, our popular gift-wrapping stations, and more visits from the North Pole, and we look forward to celebrating the most wonderful time of year with our passengers and staff.”
